Aikido is known as the "lifetime" art because of its limitless complexity and its ability to be experienced by students of all ages. Through our practice, Capital Aikido Lincoln is dedicated to promoting the principles and philosophy of the art. Our instructors exemplify this by continuing to be committed, actively practicing students. Our three head teachers collectively bring almost sixty years of experience to their classes. Our new dojo, "The space of enlightenment," is the product of the combined efforts of all our students desire to practice in a beautiful environment manifesting the purpose of the Aikido.

Aikido is practiced in a cooperative, totally noncompetitive manner. The concept of "Connection" with your partner is stressed. This begins with an understanding of one's own center combined with total body movement in harmony with your partner's energy. Both partners intent is to work toward the "least unpleasant fall" for each technique. This allows senior students and beginners to practice in a manner that is both enjoyable and mutually beneficial. As students become more technically experienced and adept at falling, the level of energy between partners can increase and become more focused. Practice among senior students can thus become very dynamic with a total commitment by all partners. This all reinforces the principles of mutual respect, responsibility and compassion that are the foundation of Aikido practice.
